Welcome to Lemstergeluk

A stylish and comfortable holiday home right on the water, with a private 11-metre jetty, a sunny south-facing garden and everything you need for a relaxing stay in Friesland.

Lemstergeluk is our own holiday home at Brekkense Wiel 211 in Lemmer. The name means “Lemmer happiness” – and that is exactly what this place represents to us. It is a place where we can slow down, enjoy the water and reconnect with Friesland.

We are two sisters who grew up in Friesland before moving to the Randstad. More than 30 years later, our love for our home region brought us back. The water, the open landscape and the relaxed atmosphere of Lemmer still feel like coming home.

In 2023, the house was completely renovated and modernised. A new floor, kitchen, toilet and bathroom have added modern comfort while keeping the warm and welcoming character of the house.

Comfortable living

Lemstergeluk sleeps up to six guests and is ideal for families or a holiday with friends.

The comfortable living room features two original Gelderland sofas, perfect for relaxing after a day on the water or exploring Friesland by bike.

On cooler evenings, the wood-burning stove creates a wonderfully cosy atmosphere.

Entertainment is also well taken care of. A new LG Smart TV can be rotated using its wall-mounted arm, making it easy to watch from different parts of the room. You have access to a wide selection of Dutch, German and English channels.

Streaming services including Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Viaplay are also available. Simply log in using your own account. You can also stream content from your smartphone or tablet directly to the TV.

Two Sonos speakers allow you to enjoy your own Spotify playlists throughout the living space.

A fully equipped kitchen

The modern kitchen has everything you need to prepare a quick breakfast or a relaxed dinner with family and friends.

The kitchen includes:

• large dishwasher

• combination microwave oven

• extractor hood

• refrigerator with two freezer compartments

• kettle

• high-quality Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother

• good-quality sharp kitchen knives

• a wide selection of herbs and spices

A washing machine and tumble dryer are available in the utility room, making the house suitable for longer stays as well.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

Three comfortable bedrooms

Upstairs you will find three bedrooms.

The two largest bedrooms feature high-quality Avek box-spring beds measuring 180 × 210 cm, providing plenty of space for a comfortable night's sleep.

The smaller third bedroom has a bunk bed. It is particularly suitable for children, although adults can use it too.

All bedrooms have blackout curtains, blinds and insect screens, allowing you to keep the rooms dark and comfortable at night.

The modern bathroom features a spacious rain shower and a toilet with a bidet function.

A sunny garden right by the water

One of the highlights of Lemstergeluk is its location directly on the water.

The garden faces south, giving you plenty of sunshine throughout the day. The spacious terrace has a large wooden dining table with six chairs, cushions, a large parasol and an awning.

There is also a comfortable lounge area for four and a sun lounger.

For relaxed outdoor dining, a large Weber Genesis gas barbecue is provided and included in your stay.

Your own private 11-metre jetty

A stay in Friesland is not complete without experiencing the region from the water.

Right in front of the house is your own 11-metre private jetty. You can easily rent a boat in Lemmer and moor it directly at the holiday home during your stay.

You don't need a boat to enjoy the water, either. Two SUP boards and an inflatable canoe are available free of charge in the garden shed.

There is also a swim ladder at the jetty, allowing you to take a refreshing dip straight from the house on warm summer days.

Explore Friesland from the water

From Brekkense Wiel, you can sail directly onto the Zijlroede waterway. From here, you can head towards the centre of Lemmer or continue towards the IJsselmeer via the Prinses Margrietsluis.

Heading east, the waterways take you further into the heart of Friesland, including routes via the Prinses Margriet Canal and the Grote Brekken.

Discover beautiful historic towns such as Sloten and Balk, or simply spend a day cruising through the peaceful Frisian countryside.

One of the best things about Lemstergeluk is that you don't have to travel far to experience it all.

The water starts right outside your door.

Discover Lemmer and the surrounding area

There is plenty to discover on land as well.

Lemmer is a lively Frisian watersports town on the IJsselmeer, with welcoming terraces, restaurants, shops, a historic centre and, of course, plenty of water.

The surrounding area is perfect for exploring by bike, on foot or by boat. The Frisian lakes, IJsselmeer and picturesque villages and towns are all within easy reach.

Whether you are looking for a family holiday in Friesland, a weekend by the water or a longer stay with friends, Lemstergeluk offers the perfect combination of comfort, sunshine, peace and water.

Enjoy a coffee by the water in the morning, spend the day boating or paddleboarding, relax in the sunshine in the afternoon and finish the day with a barbecue or a cosy evening by the wood-burning stove.

As the holiday home is located in a quiet residential area, parties and loud gatherings on the terrace are not permitted.
